It is amazing how the country has made a 180 regarding our troops since the 60s and 70s. The thanks troops are getting now should have been extended to them during the Vietnam Era. Kenny Rogers said it best, "It wasn't me that started that old crazy Asian war, but I was proud to go and do my patriotic chore." Lines from "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town."

When the government spoke it was lies, it was obvious it was lying, and not one damn thing you could do about it.

Then you get 'back'. And you don't fit ANYWHERE. Also before PTSD was realized to be real, and common. Then you were a malingerer when you couldn't cope.
Our government lead the change in public attitude toward the returned troops, (thanks to a lot of people who cared lobbying),BY GIVING THEM THEIR DUE RESPECT and treatment.
The VA services and benifits are bought, in some cases, with pounds of flesh.
I try not to forget that.
