Anybody been to Daytona beach? Hubby and I are going end of march and I was wondering if anyone can tell me where some good places to go might be for pictures of animals , sunsets, etc. would you know if the votran thingy goes all the way up and down A1a? we would rather take a trolley than drive because we are from northeast ny and are unfamiliar with the route in florida and do not want to drive it? Thanks and I probably put this in the wrong section and will get some negativity so I apologize for that. Thanks!!
Daytona would likely have better sunrises than sunsets. Been awhile since I've been there and I only took beach related shots when I was there.
I have been there but was focused on motorcycle racing at the time. Pretty sure there were a few sunrises and as many sunsets but I never noticed them.
Depending on how long you're going to be there and your time, a day trip up to ST. Augustine would present many opportunities also :).
Thank you all solo much!!

I would try; AAA or the Chamber of Commerce. I would google the start and stop and print out the directions. I believe most of it is on 95 South. The drive will be long but pretty straight forward. The best option would be to fly and rent a car when you arrive.
I live in St Augustine. just up the road. I can tell you that you can get some amazing sunsets and sunrises at the beach. There are several museums in Daytona, but I suggest looking then up to find times and locations. You are more likely to get great shots once you leave the island. Most is cityscape Now if you are staying at one of the high rises there you will be getting exceptional sunrises over the ocean. You can get some amazing beach shots as well, usually in the more secluded sections of the beach. There is

IF you have a smart phone, then having a map app not only will be useful but an help yu find things as well. I strongly suggest having a map or a map app. Otherwise your whole trip will be spent on the beach and the island.
The majority of things to do are out of town, for Instants Canaveral, and Kennedy space center, of course Disney and Universal in Orlando. North is St Augustine, and Florida History. And of course just off of 95 and East you will find a lot of NASCAR stuff.
One other suggestion. Please use plenty of sunscreen. Why? because you will be getting a lot more some and a lot stronger sun here at this time of year. I see, so many people get fried so easily after just an hour that it is not funny.
Have Fun and Enjoy your trip.
You will be there at a good time to see the nesting birds at the Alligator Farm in St Augustine. Google it. You will enjoy the birds and there are alligators too but us Floridians are so used to them we don't care about them::))

We were there in Jan of 2017. the main thing I would warn you about is that curbside parking is almost impossible, especially along the beach! I had been there 50+ years ago (Cuban Crisis) and we enjoyed it, but now it is so busy with so much traffic, we never need to go again!

Lots of opportunities. just do a search on things to photograph around Daytona and you'll get a large list. Some of which are the speedway the lighthouse the boardwalk and others. not too far from there on A1A is the missile blaze cape Canaveral lots of photo ops there. Take the Merritt island drive thousands of photographic opportunities along that drive Florida is full shots to be had.
In order to do it right you're going to have to drive. A1A goes up and down the whole coast. Don't be afraid to drive because you haven't been there before if you do that you'll never leave your town. look at the map ahead of time for look to see where you're going to go and then follow the road signs driving is not hard.
South of Daytona is New Smyrna. There are several inland water ways and estuaries/lagoons. We did a small boat tour and saw many types of birds and Manatees.
Visit the old Lighthouse bar in Ponce Inlet about 10 miles south of Daytona Bh. Take a nice drive up A1A and visit the fort in St. Augustine
I live 30 minutes north of daytona. It’s bike week now so a bit crazy here.
Anyways check out a few local parks via city websites ....
Princess place preserve in palm coast has a 3000 acre preserve for great estuary and eagle sightings. I shot 4 hours of a wild Reeses monkey just 6 miles from there !
