that's still only 7000 years, and creation of adam & eve ex nihilo -- - you're using the bible to prove the bible, a common fallacy. FACTS show the earth to be billions of years old, with life evolving over hundreds of millions of years

now, if you want to say that the bible story is an allegory for millions of years of evolution, I'd have no argument and this is in fact what mainline religions say. it's only literalist fundamentalist who cant accept the FACT of evolution

Once again I must call you out. I don’t mean to embarrass you but please post the facts and proof that God does not exist!

The earth is flat. It is just in some sort of time warp that folds around. The fold(s) make the flat earth appear round. Occasionally, people get too close to that fold and they DO disappear. That fold is near Bermuda and many planes, boats, and the people have disappeared (fallen off the edge of the earth). We know it as the Bermuda Triangle.
See, time explains round versus flat and missing people.

For them the Earth will stay flat ...
So, Adam and Eve were using dinosaurus to plow their Garden of Eden 6000 years ago.
So be it.

Although at least some education might help?

On the other hand, as we can see now, with so many law suits in our government, the things are getting better and there is finally some REALITY in sight - when religion and politics are kept separate from the science.
To mix the religion and the politics creates a radical terrorism we have experienced in recent years.
Even our home grown radical individuals who killed many people seemed to show suffering from this religion - politics mixture.
Fanaticism puts us back to Stone Age.

Thank you Jerry for bringing up this interesting subject!

That can’t be done any more than you can prove that he DOES exist! So what we have here is a Mexican stand-off. I suppose you believe in Santa Claus too, huh? Another nice idea that makes people feel warm and fuzzy inside, but that’s about it. (kicking the hornets nest) 😁

I thought the UK remains the only nation sporting a "Flat Earth Society." I have always enjoyed the Brits' sense of humor. Rule Britannia!

No. Please don't deflect.

As I wrote in my post, the odds of finding human fossils is very unlikely. Most fossils are found in areas which were flooded at one time, instantly buried, or buried by other hominids. When bones lie out in the open, they're likely carried off, wind blown, or buried in subsequent movement of earth.

You're too far stuck on Creationism to have an open mind about evolution.

Creationism requires a belief in sky hooks; that is that some omnipotent being created man as he exists today, and that everything else was filled in from the top down. There is DNA evidence that chimpanzees and humans descended from a common ancestor. DNA between both species has 96% in common.

Evolution happens, in some instances, very quickly. When people are treated for cancer, they're often treated with chemical and radio therapies. Ever wonder why? The DNA in cancer cells mutates when threatened by the radiation and drugs. That's evolution at its most basic. Bacteria are the same. It's one reason why antibiotics lose their effectiveness relatively quickly. DNA mutates to survive and pass along its traits.

Evolution starts from the ground up. It's exactly the same way buildings are constructed and roads are built.

The vast weight of scientific evidence points to evolution. It's up to the Creationists to prove the factual existence of a "god", not relying on an article(s) of faith.

I suppose next you’re going to tell us that the climate is changing due to greenhouse gasses. LOL! There is a saying “there are none so deaf as those who will not hear”, And “there are none so blind as he who will not see”. Some people just can’t be bothered with scientific evidence and proven facts. These same people probably think Trump is doing a fantastic job too. 🙄

Seriously? What group (or individual) doesn't reject facts? That's normal and pretty much universal behavior.

Flat-Earthers are the absolute least of my concerns. Delusional though they may be, they don't hurt anyone, unlike other bigger and more powerful groups that work to control people that don't believe their own delusions and fact rejections.

The anti-vaxxers come to mind.

I watched a documentary on Netflix last night - "Beyond the Curve." It was about the growing popularity of the flat earth movement. It was disappointing. I expected members to offer their "proof." The only thing they did in terms of proof was saying something vague about planes flying in the southern hemisphere and being able to see buildings in the distance. Actually, I'm surprised they used the term "hemisphere."

They did put a lot of emphasis on two scientific experiments, one using a $20,000 gyroscope and the other using lasers over a distance of several miles. These two experiments were going to prove that the earth was flat. The gyro experiment didn't turn out the way they wanted, so they tried it two more times in different ways. Now they are planning to try something else with the gyroscope. It was the same with the laser experiment. When they didn't get the result they wanted, they said they would have to try it a different way. So, if you want your calculator to say that 1 + 1 = 3, modify your calculator.

What's scary about this group is that they reject facts. As more people accept the idea that the earth is flat, there will be more people willing to reject facts and believe conspiracy theories. Supposedly, NASA and all the governments of the world are involved in a conspiracy to maintain the idea of an earth shaped like a ball. This great lie has been maintained for hundreds of years. A reporter asked their "king" why they couldn't just travel to the edge of the world. He said they are getting funding to do just that.

Their king said that doing a search on Google used to bring up 50,000 items. Now, you get 90 million. Stupidity, gullibility, and rejection of facts are dangerous characteristics of a population. For example, we didn't really land on the moon, lizard people are ruling us, the government is holding aliens at Area 51, there is a secret alien base on the dark side of the moon, chemtrails are poisoning us, the shooting at the Sandy Hook school never happened.
I watched a documentary on Netflix last night - &q... (show quote)

I'm not trying to "Start Something" here but the Communists and Socialists act the same way as the Flat Earth people when they insist that their assumptions are great if we would just try it another way. I suppose there are "Pig Headed" people in almost every discipline. Am I right?

That's rich.

This whole thread illustrates that all have their bias' and cling to them with all of their might.

The real question isn't "who's biased" but "who's bias' are worth holding and who's don't make the cut logically speaking?

If you mean that God created men who are "generally speaking" the same as their are today (not an apelike creature) then yes...that's true.

As for the "evidence" I'll say it again and again and again...what do we see in the present?

That humans and chimps share a large amount of DNA.

That's a fact.

What ISN'T a fact is the question: "What does that mean?"

We come to opposite conclusions based on our presuppositions.

If you mean "change within kinds" or "adaptation" then yes! That's observable science...not to be confused with the fairy tale of molecules-to-men evolution.

No change has ever been observed to add information to the DNA of an organism. Never. Not once.

That's REQUIRED if you want molecules-to-man evolution.

In fact, mutations either remove information or just re-arrange what's already there. Never has any mutation ever been observed to add information.

Evolution isn't science...it's anti-science.

No...it's a reaction in the present that you ASSUME to be a mechanism to drive the fairy tale of molecules-to-men evolution.

Don't conflate change and adaption within kinds with the fairy tale you believe....they aren't the same.

As for the proof of God's existence?

No problem.

The proof that God exists is that without presupposing God nobody could prove anything.

You may not like that...you may not believe that's true but that's beside the point...that's a perfect argument for God's existence. Unanswerable.
