A typical Michigan winter has kept me in hibernation. There's been no wild life to shoot for a few months. I kill time reading, watching TV, sending emails, painting rocks and attending programs here at the Manor (Retirement community.) I enjoy visits from family and friends. I have a room full of 'stuff' I use to create tabletops and Faery Gardens. Not the most exciting way to spend time but better than nothing since it has kept me from going berserk. I am eager for your comments and criticisms and hope you will enjoy viewing this post.

I really like your indoor world, and especially how you have imaged it.

Its obviously 'good' to keep active --if only to stave off moments of feeling you're going berserk--, but every once in a while, a brief injection of berserk-itude can have a positive outcome. Especially so when what happens is a controlled loss of control.

Nothing against others of your images, but your first, the one of the painted rocks..... well........

I met and spent time with a couple of Australian Aboriginal individuals who'd view your rocks as objects straight out of Dream Time. And South African anthropologist David Lewis-Williams would likely agree, but use a different set of terms to describe them. In my own neighborhood, I've seen (and found) similarly painted stones from a time before written language (as we know it) existed, and though no one can say for certain quite precisely what purpose those painted stones might've had, its evident they had a purpose. And it may had more to do with a momentary dose of controlled un-control than it did a simple staving off the boredom of Michigan's winter skies.

Yeah, I know what I've written is pretty far afield. Might've been more appropriate if I'd just said, "I like 'em." But I didn't, and its begun to rain again here in Ootah.

At first I thought the rocks were iced pastries! What a great way to create during downtime! The only suggestion i have for the photos is to add a smidge more foreground space so I have room to tiptoe up to the scene as if I were a wood sprite happening on them.

The scenes themselves are enchanting!

Annie, don't let the winter weather get you down. Your painted rocks are lovely and so are your still life shots. My favorites are the shell scene and the one with the mouse.

I love the detail of the painting on the rocks. What do you do with them? I can imagine the delight of someone finding one along a path in the woods....

I do not have your immanation. Very nice. For some reason, I like the one with the hand and flowers. For me, winter is still my favorite. I still enjoy skiing. Forty times so far and Spring skiing is yet to come.

Looks like winter in Michigan is a good time to exploit a fertile mind.
