Calico is an old silver mining town located just east of Barstow Calif. It was started in 1881 when 4 prospectors discovered silver in the Calico Mountains. The town was named for the calico color of the surrounding mountains. At its peak, it had a population of around 3500 residents. By about 1900 the town was mostly abandoned after the price of silver plummeted due to govt silver purchases. Walter Knott purchased the town in 1951 and relocated many of the buildings to the now Knott's Berry Farm. Some of the remaining buildings were restored by the Knott's, including this old school house, and in 1966 the town was donated to San Bernardino County and is currently a county regional park.
This image is of the old school house. When this image was shot, a wedding ceremony was being conducted in the front of the school.

I don't figure on doing anything with your image --in the usual spirit of MIYV revisions-- since what you've supplied is pretty (damn) pleasing to begin with, but I wanted to comment on the background you've provided.
I. Like. Context.
Kudos!
I think the Grand Tetons are a much better setting for a wedding.
Keeping it real for this one.
"Ascending" was the take I got, and worked to emphasize.

Calico Ghost Town Schoolhouse: my view
Removed some of the people as it seemed cluttered with all of them in it.

Wow Keni, very creative. Being left-brained, I wouldn't have thought about this kind of edit in a 100 years. Nice work.

Hi rborud, been there, done that. The hills surrounding the town are full of old mines and mining roads. In the summertime, we'd run our quads in the area and afterwards find the nearest watering hole and cool off with a brewsky or two (or 3 ,4, 5...) before heading back to camp. LOL

Hi SoHillGuy,
Nice touch taking out most of the people. Sometimes, it's the little details that can make a big difference in many images. My problem is often I get so engrossed in the details and lose site of the big picture.

Thank you! I was originally just going to replace the sky but my background fit so well I just kept going. It was a good photo to play with.
Ok, a little of this a little of that. Another fun image to work on.
It didn't need much for a straight edit, probably because of the clear mountain air.

Keni led the way by introducing new elements into her version of the photograph. So I found my own elements and came up with "Sunset Wedding." (The sky originally from a Rapid City, South Dakota sunset.)
