I like the idea for the image - BUT - the reality is missed by the mistakes - a Red Wine bottle and a Whisky shot glass - IMHO
Had to chuckle, I didn't have a whiskey bottle as I don't drink whiskey; but had a wine bottle! Must borrow one for my next still life. Believe you are the only one to notice, Harvey!

First off - if you're happy with it that's all that matters.
Having said that, I agree that the image would be better if the lighting weren't as flat and with fewer objects. I find my eye bouncing around in the image. One strong central theme might be better.
All-in-all, a pretty good effort!
Yes, enjoyed doing this still life and like it; but with all the ideas and thoughts about this photo, I have a lot of things to work on. That's what is so great about UHH, so many great people willing to share their ideas and knowledge.

I like it, but know little about still-life photography. Wish we could ask this guy what he thinks.
LOL, he does look like he would know!

Thanks, Ed, appreciate your comments.

Move the lantern and bottle more to the left of center and go with a black background and you have a real winner.
I think the general consensus is just what you suggested. Move the bottle and lantern and remove the window. Thanks

Maybe also a couple shell casings for effect, along with the Aces & Eights. You’ve got a good one going here, and possibilities are numerous.
Thanks , now the question is, where do I get the shell casings? LOL I like the idea ,tho. It would fit with the total idea of the photo.

Only comment I have is that the bottle with the shot glass is wrong. Its obviously a wine bottle since whiskey (which is poured into shot glasses) was never sold in green bottles. In the era you're trying to portray, whiskey was only sold in clear glass bottles. Buy a bottle of whiskey, drink about half of it, and use the rest for your still life. Being able to see the amber liquid will help balance the color composition with the flame as well.

Make sure that the casings are the correct ones for the gun.
I disagree with the people who don't like the window. That lightness in the background is critical. Not sure about the metal corners or whatever they are on the edges of the table. They kind of muddy up the composition.
I like! I also see possibly four good opportunities for great still life pictures-any of the items shown could be great shots.
As an extra comment-I remember when a lantern like that was our only light for chores-like milking cows or any night time doings outside.
I like!. Any one of the objects would make a great still life.
