This is the Fire Colored Beetle mouthparts taken as a 10X view. I placed a small piece of orange colored paper directly behind the pinned larva to serve as a pastel background. Lighting was provided by two IKEA JANSJĂ– LED desk lamps ($13.00) diffused with two stacked together 2-oz. Dixie Cups with a layer of paper towel placed between them.

Lens used is a Amscope 10X Finite Microscope Objective ($36.00) placed on 150mm of extension tubes ($16.00). The camera is a Nikon D810 set to manual and exposure adjusted via shutter speed. This is a stacked image comprised of 177 images processed as one in Zerene Stacker.
