I had monthly charges on credit , check card constantly, personal call always, $ 12.99/mo + $ 11. + 2x days apart for about 4 months with no explanation WHY , very dump person to deal with however I got credit. I had cancelled my Prime a month before via computer and removed my credit card number from the system but they renewed anyway. They may be great but I WILL BE careful from now on.

One should ALWAYS be careful. Tell us more about the "very dump person" you dealt with.

I couldn't imagine life without Prime...especially since I don't live in a big city.

I couldn't imagine life without Prime...especially since I live in a city full of nasty traffic and jammed parking lots.

Amazon prime is fine for people who use Amazon a lot. There are alternatives, but basically if you want something, anything, Amazon will sell it to you. That doesn't mean you'll get the lowest price, but with prime the shipping is free if it's stated on the web page. There are things that don't qualify for free shipping.

As I said, you may not get the lowest price but with free shipping you save the time you would have otherwise spent in traffic and searching through your chosen store for the item you want. The downside is that you can't pick the item up and look at it until it gets to you. Also you don't have a salesperson to talk to about the item (although some of the salespeople you get in local stores don't know squat anyway*).

While I really like to handle an item before buying it, online purchases are becoming the norm. When I go to a store, they frequently have a limited selection of items because they have to apply their capital to the display items on speculation. If they have it, you can buy it and take it with you and use it right away. If they don't have it they can order it, but then you're in the same position as ordering it online. You have to wait until it gets to you. The limited selection is partly due to the rise of online purchasing, where the "store" you're buying from has in theory an infinite stock since it's all virtual until you order it.

Online purchasing is here, and it's growing and pushing out the local stores, or at least forcing them to stock less. Get used to it.

*The cashiers, too. I recently made a purchase for $8 and change. I handed the cashier a $20. She rang up $10. At that point she was completely lost and didn't know what change to give me. She had to call the supervisor over to tell her what to do. I even offered to exchange the 20 for two 10s and then give her a 10 for the purchase but she couldn't see that as a solution. If the register didn't tell her exactly what to do she couldn't do it.

I have been a Prime member in the UK for a little while and use some of the Prime services. Yesterday I noticed a Prime item with a note and link to the same product but £3.00 cheaper but 3-5 days free delivery. Looking through some of the products offered on Prime, many can be purchased on Amazon about £3.00 cheaper if the longer delivery date is chosen. Most of the items have a link "this item can be purchased for less - click here"

I buy from Amazon all the time - they do offer memberships but you do have to "Agree" first. I have never seen it added without you agreeing to it first. Lately it has been a 1 week membership for $1.99 great if yoiu want fast shipping for that week - but you do have to remember to cancel before the week is up.

Even if you cancel today, they still give you one month of prime privileges.

I placed 205 orders with Amazon last year, so Prime is a money-saver for me. And that doesn't count the free TV and music downloads.

If you have a smart TV, or a streaming device, check out Amazon Prime's programming offerings. Consider their pricing and such for everyday household items, too, delivered right to your door.

Imho & ymmv, of course.

I’ve heard of IMHO but I never heard of the acronym YMMV (your mileage may vary) until now.

I have already learned something new today.

Thanks!!!

I've NEVER waited longer than 2 days for a Prime order to arrive. I've been an Amazon customer since 2003 and a Prime member since 2005.

Pulaski, Virginia pop 9,000 vs Tucson, AZ pop 520,000. Might have something to do with it.

On the invoice, there should be a phone number. You may be able to opt out with one phone call.
