During the worst of our last draught this one mile long man made "river" with a series of ponds had lots of wading birds and for over a year I was there taking pictures of them at least once a week. It always had water because it is is fed from the purification ponds that process water from the city drains. With all our rains the last couple of weeks some of the dams and foot bridges have actually been under water. The whole thing is in a large flood control channel as much as 20 feet lower than the streets and buildings on the east and west.
