The 3x3 was not in parenthesis, so I'm not sure if it has to be done first in this case, although there may be a rule for such.

If in parenthesis it's done first... not in parenthesis, it's still done first.

Start Divide/Multiply from left side to right side since they perform equally.

Start Add/Subtract from left side to right side since they perform equally.

First part of an equation is start solving inside the 'Brackets'.
Example; (6 + 4) × 5
First solve inside ‘brackets’ 6 + 4 = 10, then 10 × 5 = 50.

So answer for 3+3*3-3+3 = 12

Multiplication
3*3=9
=
3+9-3+3

Addition
3+9=12
=
12-3+3=15-3

Subtraction
15-3=12

Hence the answer is 12
PEMDAS or br Parentheses br Exponents br Multip... (show quote)

There were no brackets.

In the real world, where we read left to right and use math to solve real stuff, the answer is 18. If there are no parentheses there are no parentheses. In the math world, of which I know next to nothing, and which I used to sort of think was sort of the real world, there seems to be clever ways of seeing parentheses that are not visible, and several different ways to come up with several different correct answers to this equation. Which sort of is really not that useful. I tried this on 6 different calculators; 5 came up with 18, one with 12. The one that answered 12 is hereto-forward of no further use to me.

Oh, and I also joined the 99% that got the drip-bucket puzzle wrong, so I know my limitations.

Looking at it from my point of view, I say 3 plus 3 is 6 times 3 is 18 minus 3 is 15 plus 3 is 18.

Seems that's the way I learned the rules.

You’re right.
So we’re left with 3x3 + 3= 12

Obviously a lot of people did not learn the rules of arithmetic regarding prioritization of functions in elementary school. Apply the rules of arithmetic and the answer is 12. Brackets are supplied by the rules of functional prioritization.
