We found this in the back of our Subaru Outback a couple years ago. We have asked many friends and family what it is and we asked the Subaru maintenance people also. Nobody has an answer. The silver plate slides when the screws are loosened. Any ideas?
Maybe part of an antenna assembly?????

Looks like a locator mount for an in-car dog kennel panel.

Looks like part of an exacto blade set of tools, the blade is held in the slot. I think I have one, I will have to go the shop and have a look.

Yes indeed, that is what it is, you should check around maybe the rest of the set is in there! It is a plane of sorts. They aren't made very well but good for crafts and balsa wood modelling. Mine just sits on a shelf, its used once in a blue moon.
Probably doesn't even deserve to be in a shop with real tools, lol.
OMG thank you so much (and for the other replies too). My husband bought that set at a garage sale and this piece somehow got separated from the box. Mystery solved. What a great forum this is. Thanks again!
