Is such a lens available, esp for Nikon mount? All the ones I have seen are at least f4. Want to duplicate the classic 24-70 f2.8 but with more reach. Thanks.

No such animal ......get a high MP camera and CROP - use well applied pixel enlargement software if needed for larger print making.

The closest you'll get, I think, to what you are looking for is the newly announced Tamron 35-150/2.8-4 .

Tamron 35-150/2.8-4 yes, looked at that but I want a wider low end... otherwise would be fine

You might look for a used Sigma 50-150 f/2.8. They are no longer available new.

Great DX lens! (But not wide angle)

The older Tamron SP 28-105mm f2.8 is a very good lens - but is big and heavy !

It's little brother, the SP 35-105 2.8 is smaller and more manageable .

If you ask me I will say that a 24-105 f4 is a very good walk around lens. Nikon has a 24-120 f4 that has very good reviews.
For many photographers 24mm with a full frame camera is all the wide angle they need. Get an extra lens, zoom or prime with more reach if you are wanting a wider view.

You'll have to settle for 24-105 f4. Sigma's version for Nikon is very good.

IMHO...If your budget allows, and you CARE about superb image quality....go with the Nikkor 24-70 f.2.8 and the Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8. It really won't get much better than that!

I would suggest you look into the Sigma ART 135/1.8. In my personal experience you can't go wrong with any Sigma ART series lens. Best of luck.

Use a Nikon 135mm f2 prime lens or a Sigma 135mm f1.8 prime in addition to your 24 / 70 f2.8 zoom.

Then it's little brother, the 17-50mm f/2.8. Currently $300 off at Sigma: https://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/standard-lenses/17-50mm-f28-ex-dc-os-hsm

I have this lens and it rarely comes off my camera. Works on all Nikon DX cameras.
