Has to be in there somewhere!
Maybe in my old age, I can't remember, but I'm seeing an "amber" flash icon in the viewfinder of my d500, and would have sworn it was white at one time. I have searched both manuals without any mention of it.
Anybody have a clue?
Ive tried changing batteries in both units...NG. I'm just concerned theres an issue somewhere, and perhaps the issue is Me.

It could be indicating that it's set for flash bracketing - check whether you have inadvertently activated that.
