Wow. So very different setup than i used. But so similar. I used spot metering. ISO 200, at 1/250 f16. Nikon D750, 300-800 zoom with teleconverter and a tripod with a gimbal Mount. Hats off to you get such a great picture being handheld!! I was having issues with wind and clouds last night. My pic is on the page before yours I think.

I'll look for your picture. I have been taking pictures for over 75 years with all the heavy equipment as you are and I can't do it anymore. The SX50 meets all of my needs at this time in my life. Years ago I used to take out my telescope, attach my cameras to it and never got a picture anywhere's near as good as I've been getting lately. Today's technology is wonderful, and so much easier to use.

I had an earlier version of that camera and did similar moon shots. I half way expected as such. Thanks for the clarifying.

There's a new version of the camera, the Canon SX 70. A friend of mine bought it and absolutely loves it. I might get one, but my wife says I have GAS, and I think she's right.

I recently moved to digital. Back in September I retired my trusty old n90s leaving film behind. The D750 at least can use all my old lenses. I also picked up a canon pro 100 photo printer. I should have did be this years ago.

Do the newer versions do raw? I think my older version was jpg only. I would consider one if it had raw capability. Not that I am shopping mind you ;)

Yes. You can set it to save in both forms. The D750 has 2 card slots. I have it so it saves in JPEG in slot 1 and RAW in slot 2
