My addition to curing the winter blahs - photos from Waimea Valley, Hawaii in June 2017. These flowers are not necessarily native to Hawaii, but part of a stunning arboretum maintained in the valley. Taken with my good old Nikon D80 and its 18 - 155 kit lens.

Ooh, so pretty! I go there once or twice a year, as my daughter lives there, just a few minutes away. It is such a beautiful walk, but I have never had the desire to jump into the pool by the waterfall! I go for the birds and flowers and exercise.

Thanks, Katy. I agree about jumping in the pool - too cool for me. The flowers, though, are worth the walk.

Thanks for sharing. Makes me want to think of Spring as I look out the window and it is snowing. Forecast 3-5 inches.

Mike, you state that these were taken with an "old Nikon D80 and its 18 - 155 kit lens". You never could tell by the results. DDLs show off the sharpness and details in this set which deserves a High Five.

The sharpness and detail on the flowers are really great! A beautiful place that we have visited on several occasions, much nicer now than when it was operated as a tourist trap.
