Nikon D3300 & 18-140mm 3.5-5.6 Lens Experience.
Looking for those Photographer's who had or Have the Nikon D3300 & 18-140mm lens and their experience with this Camera & Lens. I desire Positive & Negative, with reason why. Please include any other Advice or Suggestions you may have to offer too.
Thank you.
What you have with this combo is an expensive and heavy point and shoot camera. I would go with the 18-55 for my point and shoot lens and then spend the extra money on specialty lens. For instance a macro or a 50mm (For low light and boka) or maybe even a lens baby. - Dave
My wife has this combo. It is not heavy, rather light for a DSRL, and is much more than a point and shoot. Where Dave gets this is beyond reason. The lens does very well, never off the camera unless the Tampon 150-600 G2 is needed. She has taken photos of rodeos and tractor pulls at night, fast moving grandkids, school presentations and the results are great. You will always get opinions from people who like to deviate from answering your question. I will stick to the subject matter at hand.

Although I do not have a D3300, I have used the 18-140 extensively and been very pleased with the results. With the D3300 you would definitely have have a lighter set up and the quality should be excellent.
I have used the 18-140 almost exclusively. It’s one of the best lenses I have ever used. It’s far more useful than than above mentioned 18-55.
I have the 18-140 and use it on my 7200 as my main lens. I only revert to my 18-55 when I go to OSU basketball and football games where they limit the zoom to 100mm. I'll take my 85mm prime to most of those as well. I find the 18-140 a good fit for walking around.

Both lenses are considered kit lenses; but I agree that the 18-140 is much more useful. I had one on my D7100 and that lens pretty much lived on that camera. I sold both when I got my D500 and 16-80/2.8-4 lens. My husband has a D5000 and he prefers the 18-300.
Hope that helps. Good luck.
I will just reinforce the positive comments on the 18-140 lens. Obviously consumer grade, but versatile, reasonable size, and sharp throughout its range. I have it on a D7200 so I can't comment on the D3300. BUT, my only issue with the 7200 is that it's a little large for my hands, so maybe the D3300 would be perfect.
I have both the 18-140 and the 18-300 lenses for my nikon...i find that i dont notice the weight difference in these 2 lenses...nor do i notice any difference in the image quality...i rarely take the 18-300 off the camera...i love this lens...
i bought the 18-140 lens first...i later bought the 18-300 for the extra zoom...
I have 18-140 and usevit on my D5300, similar to the 3300. I also use it on my 7100. I like the weight of the 5300 lens combo. On the 7100 combo it is a little to heavy for my old wrists. Good lens.
I have a d3400 and the 18-140mm. Before I got this lens I used the 18-55 most of all. However, I found plenty of opportunity to use the extra lens if only I had it. I like it and recommend it.

I have the D3300 and a 18-300. as others have said both are great lenses and my 18-300 is not heavy at all. I got my D3300 as a "bundle" with the 2 kit lenses. (18-55/55-200) i'm now making the 18-300 my use all time lens. you'll like the 18-140.
The 18-140 lens mentioned is one of the greatest lenses ever made

Not sure if accurate, but I have read that the 18-300 has some "Lens Creep", and also a heavy lens for a "Walk-around" Lens.
I also sold my 18-55 kit lens after purchasing my Nikon 18-140 lens, still have my 55-200 lens, but rarely use it.

not heavy for me at all. but forgive me I meant the lens (18-140) and the camera (D3300) is a great pair. I heard or read that "some" liked the 3300 over the 3400 when that came out. however happy I am with my 3300 the 3500 is better than both, IMHO. :-) "we are all different in all aspects of life".
