Super photos and story. What a terrific set-up for the shots.

My current Humane Society adoptee has been with me nearly a decade, and before her, I enjoyed 15 years with another.

Hi Linda - It warms my heart you've had 25 years and counting with adopted dogs.

My newest dog, a Chihuahua, is a rescue and she is just the light of my life. I love her to death. My other dog, a Jack Russel mix is also a rescue, but my sister is taking care of her since I took her two dogs for that past 2 months while she was in the UK. I needed a little break from all the drama of dogs barking at every noise they hear or smell they smelled as people passed by my house. I'll be getting all the dogs back for 5 weeks starting in March while she goes back to the UK again.

I have a soft spot for Chihuahua's myself - brave and loving souls in small packages. :-)

Looks like a complete success. I particularly like the third shot.

Yes - I was surprised there was such a turn -out. I'm partial to Dale myself. He enjoyed belly rubs from a young lady before being adopted by her family.

Great idea for a venue! Love the photos.
I never had dogs while growing up, but when we finally bought a house in the country we went to the local shelter to get our first dog right after returning from vacation. We ended up with two sisters because we couldn't bear to split them up. Apgar and Yachats, named after vacation spots, were Australian cattle dog/Rhodesian ridgebacks, 3 months old. A week after adopting they came down with parvo, but survived and lived to be 15 and 16 years old. Since then we've adopted a few more, including the one we have now, Hannah, our chubby toy poodle rescued off of Freecycle. Under our old lilac tree is the final resting place for those that have passed on, and we're saving a spot for her since she's now 12 and showing her age.
Great idea for a venue! Love the photos. br I n... (show quote)

I'm always happy to hear when a dog survives parvo. It can be so devastating. I'd love to see a picture of the lilac tree in bloom. It is wonderful to hear you've given you dogs such happy lives and stayed with them through old age and their passing. So many older dogs get dropped at the shelter, and it is particularly heartbreaking.

I'm partial to Dale myself. He was adopted - how could he not be with that smiley face...?

I volunteer at our local animal shelter. We had a pet adoption event at a local brewery, and 18 pets were adopted. 17 dogs and one cat. I was suspect of the new venue, but there was great turnout, and we may do it on a more regular basis. I've attached a few photos of the event.

Great work at the shelter - and lovely photos.
