Bicycling. It's not necessarily interesting or unusual, but I like it.

I usually carry a bridge camera with me when biking - with a modified carrying case that goes over my shoulder and around my waist like a belt.

I haven't found any carrying device, strap or case that I would use with a DSLR while biking.

I mountain bike and dare not even take my daughter's point and shoot given my preference for trying to kiss trees at speeds that are way to fast.

I agree with Elements 10. Between that and LR4, they have become a full time hobby learning them---and fun too (most of the time!)

Reading, taking up a new language, via computer. I have a large collection of shot glasses, I get one wherever I go, that I haven't been.

I'd guess it is sitting on the bank of a river fishing with worms and not catching anything - been there done that, too.

Sitting on the bank and not catching anything is fine in my book. Sometimes taking them off the hook is too much like work.

I handload for some of my many pistols. Been playing with a powder called Winchester Autocomp and Montana Gold bullets for my 1911's. Super clean and measures like a dream in my Harrel's powder measure.

My brother is heavy into woodworking as a hobby. He built his own CNC device and makes Harley signs and collegiate signs. Can’t' find enough time to meet the demand. Not to mention the fact that he builds ands flies R/C planes. Not hard to stay busy if you have the money. Which I don't.

I had to retire 2 years ago due to health problems but the doctors said that one of the best things I could do for myself was to have a hobby. I hadn't been planning to retire this early (I'm 64 now) and I really hadn't given it much thought and it was my doctor who suggested photography.

I was just wondering if anyone else has (besides photography) any interesting or unusual hobbies?

When I don't have a camera in my hand, I sometimes sculpt a bit with polymer clay.

There is a retired business exec in Atlanta who had the same question about what to do after retiring. After a long career he knew a group of other guys who were facing the same problem. He got several of his friends together and started the North Atlanta Men's Club. Today the club has 135 members who join together for both entertainment and community service.

There are several group activities every day of the week including bowling, golf, billiards, investment groups, book clubs, trips around Atlanta including locations like the Air Force Museum at Warner-Robbins, infantry museum at Ft. Benning, behind the scenes at the Fox theater, The microcar museum in Madison...), poker nights, cribbage games, discussion groups and others.

We are also known as Romeos - Retired Old Men Eating Out - with lunch gatherings at a different BBQ place every month, a dinner once a month, weekly breakfast gathering.

Members man the USO center at Hartsfield airport, raise money for the Alzheimer's walk, help build Habitat Homes, man local food banks, host older foster kids to an afternoon of bowling and pizza.

Once a month we hold couples bowling with the wives and hold a big, blow-out dinner-dance in the Spring at the Countryclub of the South.

You get the picture.

Does such a group exist in your area? If not, start one. I've been having so much fun with this eclectic group that I hope to start one in Ohio when we retire there.

That REALLY sounds good. What do you think of the option of adding bananas with coconut on the top?
