Rockdog posted some great images this morning of Norther Harriers he recently captured. I have been out chasing them here in S. Arizona so I decided to share a favorite. Since there were two posts of Norther Harriers today, we can call this Norther Harrier Day! I like this shot because it shows how they hunt; low over the vegitation. Taken with a Sony A9, 100/400 GM plus 1.4x converter (at 560mm). 1/3200, f/8/ ISO 1250. Hope you enjoy!

I understand that the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum area is one of, if not the only, places they actually hunt together in aerial packs similar to the way wolves hunt in the wild. Do you know if this is a fact. Thanks for the photo in download.

I live in S Az while I don't know if what you said is actually a fact, I see them hunting in 2s and 3s out in the grasslands near Sonoita. Pretty common.

Nice shot Nalu, it shows that key field ID mark, the white rump patch. I think Northern Harrier Day is a great idea. I'm sure the Harrier's would welcome all field rodents to join in the celebration! I enjoy your posts!
