well, I'm mostly a straight outta the camera sort of person. I don't like using Photoshop but do if I have to fix something (I do a lot of sports where the light isn't always as controlled as with studio or with speedlites). However, 99% of the time, I just download straight from the camera and export to jpg. I might add a small amount of saturation.
I wish I could afford to have Lightroom. The only reason I have Photoshop is because someone gave it to me (and it's an old version).

I'll add that when I shoot a game, I always end up with 100 to 200 images. That would be a nightmare to Photoshop all of them.

When I used to do "Sports Photography" it was before digital.. usually shot positive film, since that is what most publications wanted if they wanted color.. But I too used to shoot off about 100-200 shots, you have to to get the action documented throughout the game..
Save up and get Lightroom.. It is an awesome program for "developing" your RAW shots. You really won't be sorry about spending the money once you start using it..

Hey Breezy, Thanks for sharing your Photo and talent, I agree with a 100% as when I take my shots I treat my shots as Art too and everything shot is a reflection of me knowing the camera and what to do to make the Photo look good. As I shoot JPG and RAW I'm thinking about just shooting Raw as I'm using alot of space up quickly in the SD card and CP Disk quickly. I also wouldn't rule out good equipment completly but agree with you it is not entirly necessary. Again Thanks for sharing a great shot.

Even when we shot film, we weren't straight out of the camera. (except for polaroid). We went into the darkroom, or to a custom lab with all sorts of instructions so we got the prints we wanted. Photoshop is no different than the darkroom, and using everything straight out of the camera is like selling the prints you had made at wal-mart. Ansel Adams shot perfect negatives, and spent hours in the darkroom. If you are good enough to shoot digital with no PP, You are remarkable.

everyone is entitled to there opinion on what is or what is not a post edditing tool. I have seen people use LR and produce photos that look difrent then what came out of the camera as well.

I too am a straight out of the camera guy, but the string coming off the light fixture in the window could use PhotoShop. I know it could have been removed "manually" but sometimes you can't think of everything. Also with subjects such as you have shown us, I like using Professional Portrait for skin enhancing. Keep on shooting

There is an exception to the mostly out of camera preference. I love HDR.

I enjoy HDR. I also enjoy occassionally turning one of my photos into a comic just for fun. And sometimes the fractalius filter is fun.
I only do those things when I'm bored and can't get out to photograph anything.

Don't feel bad...we don't need to make excuses if we choose to use photo editing software even if we are mere amateurs

Appreciate the kudos..
Equipment is only as good as the person using it..
You could have the best camera out there, but if you don't know the equipment, or are of the mindset of shoot thousands of shots to get the one that you want.. then it is a waste of money.. But I do agree with you, it is nice to have access to great equipment..
I fought the RAW format forever, but finially gave in, and now wouldn't go back to shooting in Jpeg.. Nice to save your work that way tho... :)
