Last night was one of “those” nights! I knew there were clouds floating about but didn’t think they’d totally screw up something as simple as the Horsehead Nebula. However, the combination of narrowband sessions and clouds really did a number on the end result!! And this is after I’d discarded about half the subs.
But then I aimed a bit higher to get M1 and things went fairly well. Still ended up throwing out about a quarter of the subs but the end result is probably my best ever Messier 1. Noisy but it’ll do until the next time:
Captured with a mono QHY 163M camera, Optolong filters and Sky-Watcher 190 Mak-Newt on a Celestron CGEM-DX mount. I shot 30x30 sec., 1x1 binned subs for Luminance and 16x30 sec., 2x2 binned subs for everything else but varied the Gain to give the best histogram results. Preprocessed in PixInsight and postprocessed in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Enjoy!
