Now that is something I have not tried. Thank you.

If you use Carbonite to back up your computer files, you can get the Carbonite app for your iPad. You can then transfer anything from your computer to your iPad using the app.

I use the connected purchased from Apple. Hook it up to your computer and I-Pad. Go to I-Tunes and "devices". This will sync your photos from the computer to the I-Pad.

I do all my processing on my PC. When I go out to show people my work I take the IPad. I have over 10,000 images on my PC and have no disire to download them all to my IPad. I have several folders on the IPad such as Portraits, Landscapes, Insects, birds, etc. I add to or updat when I have additions or have taken better shots than what is on the Ipad. Maybe I am unique but I don't think so. That is why I think Apple has made a mistake making it so difficult to do what I want to do.

But the beauty of the method is that you do no picking after the initial setup. You just synch and it all happens automatically. Besides, the idea is that everythign you keep on your iPad is a duplicate of something on your computer, so you did change the folders and accidently delte everything, it simple to get it back.

Rubbish!! You are wrong. If I understand your question are you saying you can not network a mac to windows? I have a full network server in my house where the mac book pro ipad all connect and share file and print to a windows 7 p.c.. It's only my ipad does not print, because there is not a suitable apps.

I bought my Ipad primarily to use for client presentations offsite. I have thousands of images, all arranged in folders, many of which contain sub-folders.

Sadly, the Ipad will not recognize sub-folders when importing. Consequently, I must import each folder individually (there are hundreds), or the Ipad mixes all the images together, making it impossible to find what I'm looking for.

For a product that has such a reputation of user-friendliness, I find this oversight quite disappointing. Any other time I copy my files, my devices recognize all the individual folders.

Not trying to hijack the thread. Just a heads-up to the next problem you may encounter.

Respectfully, you cannot use an Apple product with a 'Windows' mindset. That was hard for me! However, once I stopped doing that and recognized the merits of the iPad, it opened up a whole new world for me.

I thought I just heard that you CAN print from your iPad. I haven't tried it, yet, though.

I under stand what you say! But to view 10,000 images would take a few weeks. I just down load the latest one's then delete from my ipad

That is the point, I don't want to view 10K photos, just want to update my folders to show people. Can it be done, certainly!! Is it easy as Windows? Not even close, it is a nightmare!!!! Other than that I love my Ipad but this is the only reason I spent good money to buy it. Big mistake.

To jtipps - It seems to me that the method I use would be perfect for you. I also have about 10,000 pictures on my computer. I keep several folders on my computer by category, and I keep those up to date as to what I want to be on my iPad at any given time. When I sync, iTunes automatically makes those few folders I've identifed on my computer exactly the same as their equivilents on my iPad. It's a simple, no-typing process.

In my opinion this is where Apple have gone wrong with the iPad. For a portable device they have made it near impossible to do simple transfers. Bearing in mind that Apple were the preferred machine in publishing. It seems to me they are just a money making machine now. I have a android based pad which comes with a USB socket as standard I can Wifi,Bluetooth, and do direct transfer from my camera to the pad via cable easy peasy. I'm not saying the Android pad is better than the iPad it is just easier to use.I only bought it because I use an Android phone. For the sake of a USB socket Apple have made life very hard for it's users.

I bought a third party Camera Connection Kit from the Cellphoneshop.net for $6. The SD reader worked great on my iPad 3. If interested you can find the one I bought here: http://www.cellphoneshop.net/ipadreader.html. I have ordered from these guys many times. They are always fast and their prices are very good.
