Bug with Lighting and Background Experiment

Well, I know that you've seen him before but it's snowing and freezing cold and I'm stuck indoors which has given me time to experiment.

I took a piece of a page from a magazine which had a faded blue gradient to use as a background and placed it under my Stink Bug which I elevated on a pin held with a dab of modeling clay so it is held a bit in the air over the background. The pin was positioned under it so as not to show when viewed through the camera. The lighting created a soft pastel effect with some of the pinks being picked up around the more translucent parts of the bug. Admittedly a bit unique, but I thought it was a pleasant surprise.

This image was taken with a Laowa 60mm 2X macro with constant LED lighting diffused with the plastic translucent cup technique.

Thanks in advance to all that view and your comments, suggestions and critiques are all highly valued.

A very interesting use for a stinkbug. We send ours on all expense paid trips to "Florida", aka the woodstove.

Thanks for viewing and the feedback. The Laowa 60mm f-2.8 super macro 2X is a good choice at a very reasonable price. All steel and variable magnification from 0.5 to 2.0 and it also focuses to infinity so it makes a good regular carry around lens as well.

It is a manual lens however that's what the ventures in macro photography are all about. I have their 2X to 5X on my "I want" list now that I have good experience with their product.

Not the powerhouse of the Canon MP-E65 but us Nikon users have to do something to keep up somehow.

Oh, Napabob, I am suffering so much from cabin fever now that it's all that I can think about since I have contracted the macro fever. I can sympathize with a drug addict now for I know what craving and withdrawal feels like.

I try to shoot something, anything, everyday. I know that some of my posts may be a bit goofy or subjects a bit redundant but it's like living in a winter desert here so thanks to everyone for bearing with me.
