Experience with your Nikon 18-140 lens please.
I use it on my D7100 with the 35mm and 50mm in my vest pockets. If I need more length I find I can turn the 1.3 mag on the 7100. I also have the 55-300mm but I don’t find much use for it where I live. Hence the reason I bought the 18-140.

I got the 18-140mm as a kit lens with my D7100. It it is a great travel lens--great reach, good IQ. I eventually got a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens to complement it. I took it on many trips and always was happy with its performance in all respects.
PS: I upgraded to Sony A7 III last April so it is not getting much use anymore.

It is the kit lens for the higher end Dxxxx Series. I find it to be sharp at 18MM, 140MM and everything in between. Also very reasonably priced when found refurbished <=$300.00.

I would like to hear experiences of those Photographer's using the Nikon 18-140 lens, which I just purchased a few weeks ago, although have not had opportunity to use it very much as yet. Only a few times now and mine seems to perform well. Thanks.
For newspaper work I never needed to take it off my camera. It is the perfect length for events, portraits, pretty much anything. I did also get an 18-300 lens for the extra reach I sometimes need.
on my camera 75% of the time...
The Nikkor DX18-140 is my favorite lens for my D7500. It's on the camera most of the time. Light, sharp, useful range, what's not to like? I also have the DX 18-300 4.5-5.6, but it's big and heavy. I only use that one when I know I will need the extra reach.
According to dxo-mark it is the sharpest lens in the category!
This is a very sharp, accurate lens. I have it on my D7100 and carry that combo on my horse while riding in saddle bags. Great all in one walk around lens.
I am including two shots with the lens.
Hi! Have been using this lens regularly on my D7000 for several years. Pretty good "reach" on an APS-C camera. Replaced my 18-105 lens that came with the camera, and I believe the 18-140 is sharper. This is pretty much my "walk around" lens, and is on the camera most of the time. In low light I revert to my 35f1.8G, or my 50f1.8D. You probably need something longer for dedicated wildlife shooting, but the 18-140 is good for hiking, as you have wide for landscapes, and modest telephoto if you do encounter some wildlife. Enjoy!
One minor problem is that you have to refocus if you zoom in or out. Not a big deal, you just have to be aware of it.
High end zoom lenses lets you zoom in and set focus and zoom out to what composition you need without refocusing. ( My old Nikkor 80-200 Ai works that way, but that is a professional lens)
Concur. Best walk-around lens I've ever used.
i have both the 18-140 and 18-300...love them both...i do use the 18-300 the most. i find it a great walk around lens, especially on vacation when i don't know what i am getting into...
It is a very good lens in well lit situations. It isn't a very fast lens, so you either have slow shutter speeds or high ISO in low light. I seldom ever use more than 50 mm, so it is a good lens for me. When I need a longer lens, I use my other lenses. If you are looking to shoot wildlife; this probably isn't a good lens for that. For closer subjects in good light or long exposures on a tripod it is a great lens. I've used it for landscapes at 18 mm and also all the way out to 140. It worked really good.
I love the 18 to 140 lens. Someone mentioned an 18 to 400. I tried one and returned it. Stick with 18 to 140 and add a 200 to 400 or something comparable. You will be much happier.
I bought a used one to put on my D7200 as a grab and go camera and it has served me well. If memory serves I paid around $150 for it and it's been worth every penny. I did have to make a small adjustment in the 'Fine Tune' setting but nothing drastic. For a kit lens or someone on a tight budget you can't go wrong.
