So, I outside photographing a newly acquired landscape in my front yard when I heard a loud, cracking sound from across the street. I managed to catch the action.
That first one is a heck of a good shot. The others ain’t bad but you really caught the action right off the bat.
Thanks! Actually kind of easy. The snow was wet and heavy and city- wide. We could hear the crackling sounds of branches breaking within sight all over the neighborhood. The crackling sound gave plenty advanced warning of what was about to happen. So, if one had camera in hand, it would be like shooting fish in a barrel. Some of them were whoppers! The entire area looked like a war zone when all was said and done. Lucky for me, most of the branches that broke off of trees in my backyard mostly fell in a neighbors yard.

....um, but you're going to be a good neighbor and go over and help them clean up the mess from your trees, right?

The stupid part?
Tom, the photos are fantastic and I am glad you did not have any bad effects. Stupid, no way, if that is stupid then we all need to get rid of our cars and never go outside and live in the basement to avoid tornadoes and hurricanes.

Oh, yeah. The thing is, with the hours I work, I have no idea when I can do so. I am going to try and get one of my sons over here to help out. The city has a debris drop off site set up about a block away, but I still need a means to get it all there.

Yeah, but I wasn't quite thinking since this was happening constantly all over the place. The area set a record for the amount of power outages due to this sort of thing.
