If you plan to buy a good quality compass, avoid Tates. It's been known for over one hundred years that Tates compasses are unreliable. "He who has a Tates is lost."

Along with that, the north pole is wandering a bit faster than anticipated.

And don't buy a 2013 Ford Fusion's navigation system. Unless of course you like screaming and cursing a lot. LOL I understand that they finally have switch to an Apple system. this piece of crap has Microsoft.

Well, I have noticed that my iphone has a compass built in. It seems to work pretty good as long as you have juice in the battery. I have a couple of cheap lensatic compasses I bought although I don't anticipate being in a situation where I have to navigate.

I've used a couple of in-car GPS systems, and none worked as well as a Garmin.

Google maps works better than any in car system that we’ve had; and my daughters and friends agree.
The iPhone compass app is awesome.
My 60+ year old Boy Scout compass works fine also.
