I had to go up to the Capitol early this morning to take some pictures, I've got a buyer for a B&W, so needed the morning light. I just thought I would share a few with everyone today.

This is the photo she liked. I have cropped out the flag pole to the right.

Awesome job Mike. Great variations! What program do you use and how long to create these?

I use PaintShop Pro for HDR, then any minor adjustments I do in Faststone, a free program, you can find it at Faststone.org Thanks for the comments.

I love what you have done here, these are all great work, if I was to pick on I would have to say #3, I think the tree limb hanging down at the top is very distracting, that is just me, I think if it was cloned out the top two would be exceptional.

Agree on the tree comment. It "touches" a little too close to the monument for me. I'd like to see how much more foliage was there. It might work with more as a framing device at the top of the photo. But I'm nit-picking. Love the sky in the b&w.

Well done. Agree with above but might suggest two things.
Perhaps a little less of the halo effect.

And correcting the keystone effect where sides of building are sloping. Very easy to do. Image- transform- perspective or distort.
Thanks for sharing and real nice.

I did go back and fix the perspective in the image, but I do like the Halo. I have decided to enter this in the Utah State Fair.

Mike,
That's great and good luck with your entry. You did a great job straightening the building. I think it looks much more imposing this way.

Great series Mike. This last one is superb after correction of verticals. I would clone out the foliage though. Good luck.

A really nice image Mike though would definitely suggest that the leaves have to go. Am not sure about halo, works for me on the right side of the building roof but not so much on the left. But in the end it has to be an artistic choice. A lovely monochrome. Good luck with the entry. I would also go back and revisit the second image because I think with a bit of tweeking it could also be a really powerful image in fact in some ways I prefer it to the first.
