This is a photo of one of our backyard squirrels that terrorize our birdfeeders. I stopped that by installing a slinky on the pole.

So adorable.
Squirrels are pests in my backyard and can empty a bird feeder in just a few hours if you let them. My dog and I don't think they are adorable. But the picture is nice!

Give it a week or 2. By then it will have defeated the slinky. Next step grease the pole every time you fill the feeder.
A very comical and appealing image.

The slinky(s) has been in place for over a year. There have been a few attempts made by the squirrels without success. Now they do not try to get into my bird feeders.
I want to thank everyone for their comments. I find them to be most interesting.
Our squirrels know the sunflower seed is as much for them as the birds, so those little dudes almost come to the back door when seed is low. Totally enjoy them so much I can't imagine trying to keep them away.

Haha. I have same problem with squirrels and chipmunks so we live trap them indelicate 30 miles away. I purchased a green dome thingy and they no longer get to my feeders although we still live trap them. I never knew e had so many!!! Though I was seeing things one morning when 4 of them were running around! I did watch one burrow in the snow. That was funny to watch him go under the snow see him making a line under the snow and pop backup some other place.

I put some expired old popcorn in my feeder for the birds and either a pine squirrel or a chippie got onto it. Next day the wife comes home from work and says the heater/defroster is making a horrible noise so I went out and listened. The fan cage had been filled with popcorn. I had to use a hole saw and open the bottom and rap it with a rubber mallet for 20 minutes to get out 2 cups of popcorn. Pita
Try one of these below the feeder - works like a charm...
