An late sunset photo of the Florida Mountains (pronounced 'Florita') between Las Cruces and Deming NM along I-10 taken last weekend during a really cold spell. These mountains are well known for their herd of Persian Ibex or Bezoar Goats and introduced in 1970. Hunting is now allowed to keep population in check.

I wasn't there, but I had friends running marathons in Las Cruces during this rough weather. I heard it was brutal.

I had to call my lovely bride over to look at this. Many years ago we were on a ranch in Wyoming and each year sometime in mid winter we would head south to Deming New Mexico to get a break from the weather. We were never disappointed and seeing this post gave us a chuckle because of how lucky we had been. Those mountains by the way will show how they got their name come spring.
Wonder fall image and great timing.
Beautiful scene...glad you stopped and captured the moment!!
Excellent capture! A must download to really appreciate.
Yet it was kinda cool watching the clouds that day, thanks Longshadow

Weather was rough but even rougher for me....while on this trip I was hospitalized in Cruces for a stuck and embedded kidney so spent a few days in Deming recuperating.

I was sorry to read about your misfortune and are glad you recovered.
It explains your location for the shot though. I had been wondering if you were on your way to Palomas(S?) but I guess you were just "there". Deming is a nice town to visit but I wouldn't want to live there and know where your wife is coming from.
(I did know a couple who moved there and thought they were in heaven. But, they came from Detroit
)

Palomas? LOLOLOL....I stay clear of that crime ridden area, getting to tough down there. BTW, anywhere from Detroit should be considered heaven...
Was in Deming to assist my wife with her sister who had a cancer operation, she did great, apparently I didn't. Tried to go to the Bosque but it was frozen over.....did manage Albuquerque and Los Alamos before the stone kicked in....Snow, snow, snow. Nice to be back in Florida....Cheers
