My wife hung a bird feeder from a hook at the edge of the small woods behind our condo complex. Within a day, birds began feeding - Downy Woodpecker, Cardinals, Sparrows and others not yet determined. I finally (I'm lazy) set up my tripod and Sony - aperture priority f/4, ISO 200. I'm shooting through a window. I ordered a wired remote to be delivered today, so I may be able to set the tripod outside. That may help with IQ & sharpness. Here are a couple of photos from yesterday and today. Not as sharp as I'd like, but it's a start. My wife's feeder is a fantastic addition. If identification is incorrect, it's her fault. I'll give you her phone number.
Not happy with the Cardinal, but I'll have many more opportunities.

Excellent work shooting through glass, Mark!
Thanks Mike. I do that quite a bit - don't like the cold and at times I do not have an abundance of patience.
