I see you have shared many photos of bald eagles and egrets. There is a vocal contingent of folks on UHH who complain about all the bird photos posted here. Ironic?

Since you're relatively new, you may not have had a chance to check out all the features of the site, including "newest pictures" - a link accessible at the top of every page. Those thumbnail images will help you filter out any subjects not of interest. There are also many specialty forums where you will be unlikely to stumble upon moons or sunsets. Click on "all sections" at the bottom of the page to browse.

And lastly, consider hosting a discussion topic about how to make moon or sunset photos something other than "identical." Please join the small group who would like to see UHH be about learning/sharing/teaching/inspiring and don't align with the grumpy old folks who are here only to complain. Let's learn together!

And these types of photos are what helps me to learn different ways to be creative. I may take the same shot as someone else but it will always be my photo and my memories, and also my challenges and successes to become better and more creative. I look at some of the pictures of the NP's in Utah and I am amazed at how people on here are able to capture them, always gives me more to strive for. I have learned from some of the comments from people like Linda and others who have commented on the few pictures I have posted, whether it was in the thread or on PM. I hope I have and will always appreciate peoples efforts to help out. BTW Maine in the fall is on my bucket list :)

Now that a new Super Blood Moon is soon to appear, how many shots are we going to see posted. I photographed the full moon with my Nikon P900, since then I have photographed the full moon, blood moon, blue moon and silver moon in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and they are all identical. Same thing with sunsets and sunrises, yes they are pretty and red but one looks just like the next one. As the arrogant Moose Petersen says if you dont have a background or foreground "you don't have a shot"

Are you aware that you are not required to look at every post? If there is something you are not interested in, it's permissible to skip over it.

This is a super-blood-wolf-moon-eclipse, exciting for me because I have an 8 year old grandson who is totally interested. We will be viewing this in Aruba. I will be bringing my 300mm to get some shots. I will print and frame a shot for him to remember our time together.
That said yes the moon and the sun can be redundant without context but all newbies get excited to be able to capture them for the first time.
It's the same for birds, I was thrilled to get my first close up and sharp detailed shot of a bird. Pay no attention to that picnic table the bird seed was on and the garbage pail in the background.
A bird is a bird if there is no context.

yeah, you said it better than I can, and did it first. Way to go Linda.

Linda, love the photos, esp. the first one. As I am a bird photographer, I am really drawn to that one. Certainly not the "normal" or "average" moons or suns. Congrats - excellent shots.

I agree with Moose, anyone can take a sunrise or sunset. What sets us apart is our artistic interpretation. What can you add to make it different than everyone else's sunset and sunrise? Or full moon, blood moon, blue moon, or silver moon?

ronesmith, thank you for stating your point of view, however as Linda from Maine mentioned, we are here not "only" to post our pictures for the enjoyment of this Forum, but to learn anything we can about the craft and art of Photography, but as Linda also said, to teach, learn and improve our skills. (Linda, thanks for the comments on several of my posts to UHH, I always value and welcome them). And, like Linda there are several UHH members that seriously comment on posted pictures sometimes criticizing them with the intent of sharing their experiences for our benefit. As far as I am concerned, a big KUDOS for them and a heart felt "thank you" on my part to all that took their times to view and comment on the pictures.
Welcome to this UHH Forum, ronesmith. Please share your work and comment on ours. YOU ARE WELCOME!

I strongly agree with Scotty. I have learned so much by scanning this site for photos where Linda comments. Her comments are always kind and constructive to the point were you can walk away having learned something. I find myself constantly asking how Linda would compose a shot before a click away. Thank you Linda for making this a real learning site and one that I look at every morning before I start my day.
