There have always been connectivity issues with Snapbridge and Apple products, Nikon has made 3 updates to the software just to try and keep up with Apple IOS changes. My phone and tablet are both Android and connecting/using has never been an issue. Works perfectly every time. I use a D850, D500, and Z7 and all work equally as well.
I have helped a couple customers with their Apple connectivity issues and its definitely a PITA every time. One even bought a cheap used Android phone just for dedicated Snapbridge use.

That seems odd in terms of my experience with Canon and android which has been explained away as owing to all the different android devices and versions while ios has only Apple to contend with unlike all the different android manufacturers. The world may be getting to be too complicated for us old geezers. I cannot imagine what it would be like for a young person just dropping into this whole confusing mess. How will they ever cope with the confusion. One step at a time, I guess, eh.

I don't understand, I use a wireless remote. It's simple.
Am I suppose to use my phone instead. It sounds complicated.

Wireless remotes only triggers the shutter. Arsenal & Snapbridge have more functions, which some photographers want.

I'm a guy with tool mania, maybe I'm a tool hoarder. I buy tools just because they're pretty neat and unique. I used to have a woodworking shop filled with all kinds of tools; about 50% that I had never used, but they were there if I ever needed them! And I still miss having them to work and play with. The Arsenal assistant is like one of those tools that I used to hoard. It's there if I ever need it!!!

Functions, raw or jpeg?
I use raw, tripod, manual, mirrow up, iso 100, f5.6, and 3 to 5 different exposures.
Does the phone with those apps select these?

No, KenArchi, you do, but on your phone or tablet instead of your camera. Typically, the apps offer much more flexibility in controlling your camera, and from a distance, more features, more actions, and produces more complete images based on your selections, depending on your camera. You can select the focus point by touching your phone and fire without touching your camera thereby avoiding blur from shake. Here's a short demo video for another kind of app although this one is tethered by a usb cable, the actions are the same except via wifi rather than cable tethered and it'll give you an idea of what your options are. The Arsenal app offers more features to achieve a greater variety of actions you can control than this app and you can control your camera from up to 100 feet away from the camera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnxvFYza6Y4

Here's a longer video that shows more about the various control features and then the second url is to a short Arsenal demo.

I have one. I'm not impressed.

I've read about it. I'm intrigued. So far, nobody has one. The FAQ page says they would be shipping last year.

On edit: I was wrong! The website says they've shipped thousands.

Would you mind giving us a little information about why you're not impressed? I, for one, would appreciate hearing some of your reasons. It would seem to be a time-saver in some regards such as in-camera focus stacking as opposed to doing it in "post," and a few other "automated" and frequently used features. Thanks.

MtShooter speaks big truth regarding Apple compatibility. (And he should know) Android operating system(s) are developed and changed/tweaked according to certain standards which enable them to operate across a broad spectrum of platforms. iOS On the other hand only has to be compatible with Apple devices, and even then, Apple "obsoletes" those devices after a period of time (aargh!). They don't give a hoot (aka a rat's behind) whether something they change will be compatible with Nikon products, and Nikon's software- poorly written to begin with- hasn't a prayer of keeping up. I have had nothing but trouble with connectivity with my iPhones/iPads as the operating system (and hardware models) is updated periodically. I like the one user's comment about buying a cheapo Android phone to get the connectivity and functionality that Apple is sorely lacking.
As far as the younger generation starting out today, this stuff is second nature to them and most of them can do "it" with their eyes closed; it's us "old geezers" that get cornfused, don't know what buttons to push, and get taken in by glowingly self-written marketing hype re:capabilities and features of devices that will "solve all the problems."
(MtShooter- if you read this, *thank you* for your constructive input. As usual.)
