Well, I won't pretend these are contenders for "best" by any comparative technical standard, but they're recent, they're mine, and they're among my favorites for this year. From October this year, looking west across Longmont, CO from St. Vrain State Park near I-25 and CO 119.

Since these represent my first photo sharing, I should ask what the standard procedure among hoggers is. I see some photos "signaturized" but in high res and some in lower res. I'm guessing that's how most of you manage to ...uh... share while protecting. Not having managed any stamping procedure yet, I've just downsized these images. And made them downloadable as I have seen others do here. Is that appropriate practice? Asks the novice.

p.13 Beautiful to view! I am not aware of a "standard procedure" Anyone else? Signatures, I think, are a personal matter of choice. Yes, acceptable to make dowloadable so folks can see the detail and WELCOME!

Thanks, PAToGraphy! I'm going to have to rest now. I've been viewing a long string of some of the most stunning photos I've looked at in much quantity in a while, and my eyes are beginning to cross.

I have many favorites, and am not 100% sure what would be my best. I'll post in categories I guess. Will have to go back and check out the posts. This post would be my favorite waterfall pics. Same falls, different times of day and year. #2 Earned a blue ribbon at Maine's largest Fair

BTW, PAToGraphy, your 3 waterfall photos are the coolest flowing steps I think I've ever seen! Usually a B&W shot, when I know it could have been color, leaves me wishing I could see the "whole" color version, as if I've been deprived of reality. But that first waterfall in B&W is rightfully special. Maybe I forgive the lack of color because of the other two? And the other two are certainly Blue Ribbon shots!

Great Start Lesley. It's not Tuesday yet and already 22 pages. WOW!!!
I've got over 7,000 photos to go through and they're all the best I've shot in 2018. Just ask ME. OK!!.. Maybe I can weed out to just a few hundred. Probably take me a week.
Gotta go look at some photo's. Be back later.

Happy New Year to Everyone.

FROM PAGE 14

Judy Juul, As much as I love your chosen photos, I love the variety represented maybe as much. Love the puppies and water lilies (?)! Then: My wife and I have been "kid people" forever - she teaching kindergarten or first grade for nearly 35 years and me in teaching and admin too - so the last shot really pulled me in. However, there's something about the elder couple (could almost be my wife and me!) that held me longer than any of the scenic marvels (my usual favorite category) posted throughout this string. Being "almost there" myself, I probably hear this picture more than some viewers will. It speaks to me of a life well lived, but a move into a new level of... isolation, perhaps. You know, empty nest, to grandkids growing up, and on to "What's next?" kind of feeling. And her glance over her shoulder speaks of a certain reluctance or regret.

Ooof. Must shake that off! But really, you sometimes don't know how powerful a really good photograph will be for some other viewer, do you?
