If I hadn't just used the word lagniappe, I'd use it again ref #1
The moon is the bonus, but the perspective is what makes the image so successful IMO. Looking up at the magnificent cactus is rather awe inspiring. Also love the glimpse of red rock against deep blue sky. #1 is a stunning photo IMO.

We spent the morning looking for the horses. Nothing. But we did get some great (I think) images of Red Mountain. It is becoming my favorite mountain! These are both "with cactus." I'll do another post from the river. All comments welcome.
I
really like the 2nd shot with the isolated saguaro "youngster".
Thanks. I appreciate the comment and the visit.

Nice ones, Kathy, especially the one with the moon.
Thank you, Jaymatt. The moon was a surprise! I knew it was going to be full, but it never occurred to me where it would be at that time of the morning. Serendipitous!

I agree with your comment about the moon in your first shot. For me without it would just be another shot of a cactus. Even as grand as that cactus may be.
It sort of gave it that zing of the 3 elements, I thought. Trying to place everything correctly was hard! Thanks!

Both are very good images. The first one is outstanding.
Thanks. That one seems to be the favorite.
WOW! That's a lot of thumbs up! Thank you.

I had to look that up, Linda. The first one was hard. I started out shooting the mountain. And I wanted to include the cactus. But then I saw the moon. By the time I had moved around enough to get all three in some semblance of nice order, the cactus became the star of the show with the moon and mountain only supporting actors. Not what I started out for, but pretty nice. The sky had been problematic all day. It started out nice, then some clouds came over. I'm a desert rat. Blue skies are for me. But the clouds cleared, and by the time we were here, it was nice again. Of course, the clouds came up again later. . . .!

Thanks. I like that shot also. It's not as busy as the first one, and I like that. And the saguaro looks nice and straight. Of course, with all those cracks, I'm not sure it's going to survive.

Thanks. It was exactly in the right spot in the sky!
Excellent set, Kathy! Love the moon in #1.

Thanks, Mike. It does add a lot, no?
How beautiful are these, Kathy, and I especially enjoyed the first image with the moon.
