Solitary cow

Since I first learned of this section, I've looked in from time to time and I've wondered about what the definition of "landscape" is in this section. Tonight I used the search function and read a bit about how the word is defined here. I see that it isn't a hard and fast "this is what it is" definition, which I like. This one is either a nature shot or a landscape or both. I came upon this scene last summer and couldn't pass up the opportunity to shoot it.

I like the way you think. Good idea that came across well. At first I looked at it and I thought a bit more sky and a little less hill. Than I decided just the way you shot it.

I love the simplicity and the solitude.

Great shot. IMHO the sky is the difference maker. Did you do anything to it in processing?

The gentle rise and curve of the hill really makes this image, along with the soft sky. Great choice of where to position the horizon IMO. A simple shot that says a lot.

Terrific capture! I'm always hoping to get a similar shot of a deer but haven't yet.

Thanks Frank. I have a couple of other shots nearby but they arent as simple as this one. Many more cattle and more hills taken at a wider angle. This one kinda reminded me of the famous desktop photo of the lone tree used by microsoft in early windows versions.

That’s the feeling I get too.

6 months later I can’t really tell you what I did but I think I only adjusted the contrast and exposure levels a bit. I may have pulled it into NIK and worked it a bit but don’t remember exactly.

Glad you liked it Linda. As I stated above, it reminded me of that windows desktop photo of the lone tree.

Keep trying. I once spent a year trying to capture a photo of a cow that a friend requested of me. Cows are not very photogenic or cooperative.

It is a very nice shot and I agree with previous comments. I would not say this is a landscape since the eye concentrates attention in the main subject which is the cow.

I like it. Is it a cow or a bull? I can't tell with the grass there.
