I went to my usual watch spot this A.M. and there was NOTHING ! I sat for awhile and decided to leave - when I looked up and saw this guy high in a dead tree - so I put the 1.4X on and got the monopod out and he seemed undisturbed - so I took some distant shots. Then, surprisingly, he flew down into a nearby tree - I cautiously approached and took a couple more. He flew away and came right back even lower/closer in the tree - now, I am getting excited ! and I suddenly realized he was in subdued light and brought my shutter speed and ISO DOWN and moved to an advantageous back round - and this is one of the images - eventually, he flew away from me into darkened trees.
Canon 80D, 400 prime W/1.4X II, 1/320, f8, 400 ISO from monopod - this is full frame !
