I wanted to really test my new 85mm 1.8 lens. I shot three games with it, I was pretty impressed. I still have to get use to where on the lens would be the sharpest aperture.
See what you think.

Hey Jules. These are excellent photos. Looks like you have mastered the 85 already. Looks like the light was pretty good or was it camera/lens. Which camera were you using and the settings. Look forward to seeing all the photos on MaxPreps. Keep it up and keep shooting TIGHT, TIGHT, TIGHT. Thanks
Tom
Perfect as usual Jules. Where were you positioned ? Behind basket ? Sideline ?

I was all over the place. My favorite is sitting under the basket but dangerous. I shoot from the corners, mid-court, just trying different angles and such. Have a great holiday.

Tom: The camera was the D500, tried the lens on the D4 but needed more reach so I went back to the 500 for all the games. Nice gym, iso 3200 to 5000 1/1000 at 2.2 for most of the shots.
Have a good day.
Jules
Excellent photos. Well done.

Yes these are excellent!! Maybe I should shoot Nikon!!! They look pretty sharp to me not grainy. Your players are a lot taller than mine!! Did you crop, or take vert.

Iso 3200-5000 nice gym. Some like the first one I shot horizonal, some I cropped vertical, and some I shot vertical. My shoulders are painful to shoot vertical, that's why I crop that way. Bursitis is a pain and at my age I have to be careful.
Thanks Jules. Have a great holiday. Paul

Hope You, Your Family, and Loved ones have a very blessed Holiday Season.
Your photos are awesome, envy them.
As You know I bought the 85mm f1.8 too, but I have not taken photos of Your talent, and quality.
I shall continue to practice, and learn.
Thanks for sharing.
Merry Christmas
