I needed to photograph some ducks, and found them at the Cincinnati zoo. Many are wild, but some have clipped wings. One worker told me lots of wild ducks are present on the pond in late March and April, so I hope to check back again then. I had to shoot mostly wide open as I needed some shutter speed with my 800mm lens, duck movement, and dimmer ambient light than I would like. Still, I got plenty of sharp shots. This is a time where AF micro-adjusting my lenses really pays off since I can't stop down enough to mask a slight error in focus. I wish I could have used more depth of field - like f/11 - but not really possible given the conditions unless I shot at an ISO well above my preference. By the way, I just added some new thoughts and detail to the end of my article on AF micro-adjusting that is on my blog.

Those were beyond awesome. Cant imagine seeing them in real life. Live by Pacific ocean and have awesome sites, but no birds like these. Thanks for sharing. 78 year old member here.
