A few weeks ago I posted that I had ordered a new Nikon D7200 for a very, very low price from New York. Thanks to those who responded about it being a grey import, I was able to cancel the order before it shipped. So with that in mind, this evening I ordered the same camera from B&H, who is a registered Nikon importer from what I understand. Granted, the price was a bit more, but at least I have the satisfaction of a warranty if needed. So, thank you all for the heads-up advice. My Christmas gift to me will be here in the afternoon of the 26th, or so they say.

Yes but beware as B&H also sells grey market items, and they don't make the grey market items really obvious. The key is to look for the word "import" in the B&H sale info on the web site.

Congratulations on a great camera that will be protected for one year from Nikon USA. Make sure after you try out the camera and everything works, and then register on line and SAVE THE SALES RECEIPT as you will need a copy of it if you have to send it in for repairs under warranty.

Yet another reason I am very happy to be Canadian. Nikon Canada will service Nikon manufactured equipment no matter where it is bought or what serial number range it is part of. And y’all are free to visit anytime with a valid passport. Visitors from a few countries require a visa to gain entry but it’s a short list. Our government is functioning and most of the US-Canada border is unprotected by a wall or even guards. AND your vacation dollars go further since US$1.00 is now worth about C$1.30 Happy Holidays!

In the first place, Merry Christmas. You did the right thing, B&H is a reputable dealer and they surely are a Nikon authorized seller. The warranty will be good for a whole year and in the future you ever need service they will serve your camera.
You paid a little more just to have peace of mind.

Not knowing your level of photography skills, I feel that to earn & understand the full capabilities of your D7200 it would be a good idea, IMHO, to get both of David Bush's books on the D7200, the Compact Field Guide and the full version. I purchased both from Amazon and have read the Field Guide cover to cover and referenced the full version for a more in depth understanding of several aspects of the camera. Both have been a tremendous help to me.

Yesterday was a "Blue Bird Day" here in SE VA, (clear, sunny day & blue sky, with no clouds), and I was out with my wife experimenting with what I'd learned from the books using different shutter speeds while taking images of old, dilapidated houses and farm buildings. I find that the winter months are better for my taste since most all of the foliage has dropped their leaves exposing more of the buildings. I'm really beginning to enjoy my D7200, (my Christmas present to myself as well), which I did purchase, along with most all of my other photo gear, from B&H. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

For peace of mind about warranties, look into getting a personal property policy for your gear. Mine is with State Farm. If you’re an amateur, it’s very reasonable in cost. Covers repair or replace, no deductible, no depreciation. They may replace at purchase value if repairs are 80% or more. They even cover desk top computers and printers, flash units, et cetera.
