Thanks everyone. I had a nice day there. And yes the old boy fling the P51 was not holding back anything when he was doing laps around the airport. When he was coming down the run way to go by us, he was running full bore. Almost could not pan fast enough to get a sharp shot. :) And what a beautiful sound coming from that 12 cylinder. :) Just raw power at it's best.

The most beautiful airplane ever! Not only as a fantastic war plane during WWII, but such a beutiful bird in flight and with that memorible engine sound when it flew by. I have tears ln my eyes when I see or hear it. How I wish I could have flown it during my tour in WWII. ---Col Bob

I am not sure what prop plane they had in Nam when I was there. But they save our asses a few times. The jets could not turn and get back to helps us in time. These guys that flew the old props could put on a show and get things done. And yes it is a great sounding engine when you hear it coming to help!!

Ohio Erv : The (-51 has to be one of the most beautiful and balanced powerhouses ever created. Many of today's jets are cool but the P-51 has exquisite proportions and balance -- and that relatively awesome sound and power. Thnx for the memories, paison !
