Wilkerson Cemetery

Out in the foothills of the Cascades sits the little quarry/mining town of Wilkerson, along with its cemetery. It was a grey, overcast day with little to no contrast. However, after conversion to b&w and some fooling around with my editor, this popped out. As you can see, I reintroduced some color to the background simply for visual interest. Comments are welcome if you wish. Ken

Did you stop at the Carlson Block while in Wilkeson for some artisan pizza? It's very good and their cheese cake cannot be beat.

Nice composition. The spot color, I feel, detracts from the grayscale conversion.

No, I did not, but thanks for letting me know of it's whereabouts. I'll be going back when there is better lighting.

I like this image but do agree that the little color doesn't add anything. I love the name on the main headstone. Adds character to the photo.

The more I look at the pic, the more I'm beginning to agree that the color effect doesn't do all that much. However, it was fun to play with. Most of the deceased appear to be from eastern Europe in the slavic region. Most men died in the early 20th century from mining activity.

Sorry. Just do not understand the fascination with black and white. Takes all the life out of a scene.

If you don't get it, don't sweat it.

I just hate it when B&W takes all the life out of a cemetery scene. ;)

Actually, what a cool shot. I love interesting headstones. In Hiawatha, KS you can find Adam and Eve. Sad, though, baby twins.
