When are the adults in this country going to get rid of the felon currently occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue??
Good question.
This nightmare has lasted far longer that I expected.

Most everyone in the GOP have filled their pockets to capacity and are retiring and don't give a damn about the country.
The House caved in to trump's tantrum and gave him his requested $5 Billion for the wall.
Now the House and Senate will have to hash out a compromise bill.
How much of that funding will remain in the compromise bill?
Will they beat the deadline?
Will there be a shutdown?
Will trump veto the final bill?

There will be no shutdown, that was never on the table.

And what makes you so sure that there won't be a shutdown?
Although most of the Senate has already left Washington for home, they've been told to return because they're going to need to vote on a compromise bill with just under 16.5 hours left before the midnight deadline tonight.
That's not a lot of time for Congress to agree on a compromise, and without funding for trump's precious border wall, he won't sign any bill brought to him.
I see the situation as a no win for Congress and trump, and an almost certainty that there will be a shutdown no matter how much you wish it otherwise!

We go get brought this routinely ... and the gubmint never shuts down.
What makes you think there will/might be a shutdown?
With just under 5 hours until the midnight deadline, the Senate still isn't back in Washington and debating the House version of the bill that's a non-starter with the $5 Billion border wall funding in it.
I'm not holding my breath that the Senate and the House will be able to hammer out a compromise before midnight!

Our government is truly dysfunctional.
It starts at the top.

I just read that the House went home at 7 pm tonight, so there is no budget agreement.
Yes there will be a shutdown at the hands of the GOP and trump!
The longer the shutdown lasts, the more services that trump can cut.
That includes TSA Inspectors.
I hope that you don't have a flight to catch before the shutdown ends, because without TSA inspectors, planes won't be taking off.

There is no shutdown ... but you are a good serf, obediently believing whatever your masters tell you to believe.

You are in such denial!
The midnight deadline wasn't met, and the shutdown started.
Yes it's only a partial shutdown, but 400,000 still have to work without pay, and another 380,000 employees have been furloughed without pay right before Christmas, while trump flew to Florida to enjoy his Christmas Vacation at a cost of close to $1 Million if not more, because it's an extended stay this time.
At the last minute, trump refused to take the blame for the shutdown that he and his handlers at Faux News actually caused!
trump was all over the news at the beginning of the week boasting that he would take the blame if there was a shutdown, now he refuses to own up to his original boast that he would proudly shoulder the blame!
All of this is to deflect the news cycle away from the Mueller Investigation, and to cover up the Ethics Recommendation that his acting AG recuse himself from anything to do with any Russia Investigations (or any other trump investigations).
And the nominee for the next AG is in the same boat, and will face a tough if not impossible Senate Confirmation Hearing as well for the same reason, he comes in with a predetermined opinion about the Mueller Investigation that's in line with trump's beliefs.

Can I quote you on that Poirot?
