Has anyone checked out the new technology from China called BigPixel. They have created an image 193 gigapexels, yes GIGApixels. An amazing image, check it out.

They want me to download and install some software first; decided to pass, though I admit it doesn't appear shady at first glance.

It's an amazing image, imagine seeing an Ariel image over NYC and then zooming down to street level and seeing the people's faces.

Based on recent hacking revelations I would be very careful downloading software from China. Just my opinion.

Not exactly new technology. This post was from September 2012.

"Such projects have been completed in a number of cities – Budapest (70 gigapixels), Shanghai (272 gigapixels), Vancouver (193 gigapixels), Dubai (45 gigapixels), London (80 gigapixels) and many more. This type of detailed visual documentation of a city landscape can be the foundation for innovative historic archival. If taken every, let’s say 15 years, the gigapixel panoramas can serve historians as invaluable documentation and proof of the visual and architectural development of a city."

It includes a video with no need to download anything.

The Gigapixel project has been around for years - and they even sell robotic tripod heads that could be set to take the dozens of images needed to stitch together to create a gigapixel final photo -

I thought this was 'Old Hat News'. Read it a few years ago.

I think that's the picture someone posted here a day or two ago. It seems to be the same type of thing as Gigapixel, which has been around for quite a while. China is racing ahead with technology, and it will soon be a world leader in technology, while the U.S.A makes fun of scientists and cuts funding.

We need people trained in stealing technology so we can turn the tables.

US Spy Sats, they most likely stole our data, we've been doing stuff like that for a long time, just wasn't shared with general population.
