When trying to solve crimes, cooperation of the community is very important. This can require the trust of the community. If the cop on the beat is seen as an extension of ice. This cooperation will not happen. Sanctuary cities is about preventing and solving crimes. Sanctuary cities is about making things safer for all citizens and residents. Undocumented people are not going to report crimes or volunteer what they know about crimes if it will result in their deportation. Of course if you feel deporting brown people is more important than catching white killers, you won’t agree. Just so you know, it helps catch brown killers too.
