I received an email notification from The New Camera Website, that Nikon is discontinuing the manufacturing of both the D5500 and D7200 DSLRs. The D5500 was superseded by the D5600, and the D7100 was superseded by the D7200 in early 2015. The D7500 was supposedly the successor to the D7200? The D7500 is said to be better than the D7200. Nikon made the D7500 with one SD card slot. The D7200 has dual SD slots. It does have a faster fps, and a better processor. The D7200 will live on. It is one of the most mentioned DSLRs on this forum. What will replace it, who knows?
D7500 read your own post. The lack of two cards? Really?
Are there 7000 series DX or FX Cameras?
Apparently, the D6xx series will be discontinued. The new D760 will be their entry-level full frame DSLR camera.

The OP is asking about DX bodies.
Will be interesting to see what the D760 has to offer though.
What is the “New Camera” website and what is their official status vis a vis Nikon Corporation?
Better you should consult the Nikon website for accurate information regarding their products.
Rarely do I get a gas attack, going extinct probably won't change the gasification processes. My D5500, 1988 Chevy Silverado and I will endure as fossils.

I have done professional photography for over 40 years and only had one roll of film in my camera at a time. With digital I only have used one slot at a time for over 15 years. I have no need for an additional slot.

Until you do.
It all depends on what you shoot. If you can redo it, that’s a pain, may cost you a few $$$, but it’s doable. If you can’t get a redo, 2 slots are cheap insurance against a bad/corrupted card & a potential lawsuit.
Respectively, you have never photographed a wedding or an event. The dual card slot provides safety/peace of mind!
The D7200 has been around for quite sometime so it's time for Nikon to discontinue it. If you want one you can buy one for a rather good price. If they introduce a new model it may have more MP and slower than the D500 (to make sure they can still sell the D500).
