I purchased Luminar 2018 for windows sometime ago and like it except for the non existence of the library, which of course comes with Luminar 3. I am running a PC. I am purposefully waiting to download in order to see how others are fairing. I believe I will give it a little time, perhaps an update will be coming along to fix some of these problems many are having. I do wonder if older, slower computers are the one fairing the worst vs the brand new faster machines...

I'll wait a while (couple months) to upgrade. My initial upgrade to 2018 had issues which caused me to uninstall get money back. Then repurchased in November and this time works well so I'm leery about getting on board too soon for new version (Win 10 Pro system)

There will be several updates coming in the next few months. I haven't had any issues using a MAC seems like Windows is having more problems.

Like many of you I am sure, I downloaded the new Luminar 3 with libraries today. So far I like what I see. Have just barely scratched the surface of what it can do but I liked the speed, the ease of opening up an entire file, and the new looks. Will be spending a lot of time the next few days watching tutorials and exploring its features and deciding how I will use it. Always something new to learn and play with in photography.

Also received the upgrade notice of the availability of the Luminar 3, and immediately upgraded from Luminar 2019 (although mainly using On1). I am running a 2017 27" iMac with 48GB of ram and am really impressed with the new upgrade and did not have any issues loading/running the upgrade at all. I spent several hours with it initially just trying out the new controls, and really like it so far. However, it will have to be something really special to get me to change from On1. I plan to download the "User Guide" for Luminar 3, and watch a few video tutorials to get a little more proficient, and can see that both On1 and Luminar 3 will be great for my PP in the future.

I have a 2013 iMac with 32 gig of memory. Have use MacFun (Skylum) products for years now. Downloaded Luminar 3 yesterday. Really like it but this version is rather buggy. Have experienced frequent crashes but no loss of work. As to the above mentioned problem of having the progress bar just sit there and do nothing, I experienced that as well but the added folder pictures did load. The progress bar seems to be the issue not the loading.

I am sure that the bugs will be addressed and I am still going to be using Luminar 3 instead of Lightroom Classic. Lightroom was having crash issues as well and I really do not like the Lightroom data management system. I also think that Luminar does much more and better post processing than Lightroom. Skylum has continuously improved their products with very reasonable prices.

Figured out my repeated crash problems. When installed, Luminar 3 asks where to find photos (one can specify folder, or the default seems to be "Pictures" folder). I uploaded from "My Pictures" and some 50,000 images were processed - - - apparently unsuccessfully. When I moved quickly enough to delete what had been done (remove the "My Pictures" folder) the crashes ceased. I can now add smaller individual folders.

I downloaded Luminar 3 last night and it is running perfectly on my iMac-27 (late 2012 model with 32gb RAM and 1TB SSD.) I've been using Luminar since its first release, and was using it as a plug-in to Aperture. I kept Aperture because of its DAM and cataloging features, but it started to crash frequently after several OS updates so I was forced to abandon Aperture and use Apple Photos for file management with Luminar 2018 as a plug-in. I was very frustrated with Photos because of its sluggishness. I knew that Skylum would be coming out with a new version so I was patient. Now that I use Luminar 3 exclusively, I am very happy with the significant increase in speed and overall capabilities. However, I can see where Skylum needs to do some more tweaking - it would have been more convenient if Luminar 3 could automatically import my folders from Photos' default folder. I do like the idea that Luminar 3 did not overwrite and discard Luminar 2018, in case one does not like or need the added improvements in Luminar 3. The new installation did import all of my settings and filter collections from the previous version.

Having problems getting the app to get beyond the initial screen where it asks where your pics are. No help so far from Skylum. On WIN 10.

I just downloaded it about a half hour ago and it's 2% done creating the library. Not exactly a speed demon like the videos I watched demonstrated. Of course, I have more than 130k raw pics for it to organize. We'll see when I get back from flying my drone later today if it's finished with the library.

I downloaded Luminar 3 and like MANY PC users have found the program virtually unusable...such a major disappointment for Windows users. Takes hours to upload photos, sometimes up to 20 minutes just to start the program and you stare at the gray splash screen, then freezes, folders not loaded but simply grayed out showing "0" photos within, even though there are many photos in each one. What a major mess.

Wow thanks for all the heads up. I'll be sticking with the old version for now and following this thread closely.

Wow I’ve had no problems so far on my 2011 27 inch iMac running high Sierra. It’s always strange to hear people having problems on similar equipment.

I'll be uninstalling luminar 3 and wait until the Windows version settles down. Sticking with Lightroom 6 for now.

I'm glad it's working well for you. I've found and reported to Skylum several bugs so far that make using this new version quite painful. Luminar 3 moves like a stone on my Windows 10 PC compared to Luminar 2018. So far, I'm disappointed, having waited so long for this update. My Windows-based PC is a bit less than two years old and is quite robust, running an Intel Core i7 6700 chip at 3.4 GHz with 32 GB of memory and a GTX 1060 NVIDIA graphics card. Hopefully, Skylum will get the bugs fixed soon.

I had high hopes for Luminar 3, but now those hopes are in the dump. Installed on my Win 10 machine and it started to catalog my photos but quit at some point, wasn't paying attention to the progress so not certain where it crashed. Tried to restart the program, got the startup splash screen and then nothing. Uninstalled the program and did a reinstall, got the splash screen but nothing else.

I posted a comment on their page and they said get in touch with support, I'm sure in line with a thousand others based on what I read. I'll just wait until they release the version that is supposed to work as I am not in a mood to troubleshoot bad software for them.

Happy shooting and holidays to all
