Sorry, but at the risk of offending the uneducated bible thumpers of the world, I have to say that only an idiot could possibly believe that.

Well, yes, there's the whole big boat thing as well, where two of every animal on earth (apparently even those parts of earth that weren't even known at the time) floated around for a year without eating each other....

And as a child I was given a bible with the "actual words of God printed in red". I always wondered how they knew....

The problem ... is people. Inefficient, inadequate, imperfect.
MAYbe God's day is @ a billion years long. Then it comes out about right.
MAYbe in Methuselah's time they counted moons, not years. Then it too comes out about right.
MAYbe you'd read the thing, and realize Jesus really was a Jew. He never said to pray to him, or to Mary, or to an idolatry espousing wacko in a hat for personal favors. BTW, Mary wasn't the virgin- her mother was.
MAYbe you'd realize that the King James version was rewritten from the Geneva version to help the King and the Pope "guide" the populace into submission and obedience.
MAYbe you and I arguing about gods and angels is even stupider than 2 desert ants arguing about whales.
MAYbe it really is turtles all the rest of the way down. And frackers are bothering the dinosaurs.

"MAYbe it really is turtles all the rest of the way down." HarryO

"It's turtles all the way down, holding up the earth". I remember hearing that creation myth told by a Native American story teller on NPR. It's as good a story as any of them, if we're ready to take a leap of faith.

Don't take any bets from Frenchy. He's a slow payer and will want to negotiate his losses down. Count the mules when he's around.

You mean who believes the earth is 6000 years old? I do. I believe the Bible is true. I know it.

Science can't explain creation and so many other things. They are all guesses.

" Age may only be a number, but when it comes to the age of the universe, it's a pretty important one. According to research, the universe is approximately 13.8 billion years old. How did scientists determine how many candles to put on the universe's birthday cake? They can determine the age of the universe using two different methods: by studying the oldest objects within the universe and measuring how fast it is expanding.

The universe cannot be younger than the objects contained inside of it. By determining the ages of the oldest stars, scientists are able to put a limit on the age.

The life cycle of a star is based on its mass. More massive stars burn faster than their lower-mass siblings. A star 10 times as massive as the sun will burn through its fuel supply in 20 million years, while a star with half the sun's mass will last more than 20 billion years. The mass also affects the brightness, or luminosity, of a star; more massive stars are brighter. [Related: The Brightest Stars: Luminosity & Magnitude]

Known as Population III stars, the first stars were massive and short-lived. They contained only hydrogen and helium, but through fusion began to create the elements that would help to build the next generation of stars. Scientists have been hunting for traces of the first stars for decades.

"Those stars were the ones that formed the first heavy atoms that ultimately allowed us to be here," David Sobral, an astronomer from the University of Lisbon in Portugal, said in a statement. Sobral was part of a team that identified a bright galaxy with evidence of Population III stars."

What science says is that at this moment in time this is what we accept and we will experiment to see if it is so. If we are wrong we will adjust our position in the light of new evidence.

What religion says is this is the way it is and don't try to prove it is wrong.

Scientists agree on many things but challenge those beliefs. Religionists don't do that. That is why they live in ignorance like you reveal in your statement!

That was years ago. Didn't really try take in all the paticulars. There no one knows aNY ways. Scientist can't agree to anything . 10 years later it all different.
