Some background on our rescue Lab, Fern

In June 2007 my sister-in-law (photo#1) found 5 month old female Lab wandering around in a busy, four-lane local street. She had a collar on with a phone# taped to it but no license or rabies tags. We called the number and her owner, Cory, said he could come by in a few hours, after his work, and get her. When he came over to get her he said her name was "Fern" because she had pretty green eyes. He said that she was always escaping from his yard and he wasn't sure if he wanted to keep her. We told him that we had lost our 14 YO Akita a few months earlier and if he couldn't keep Fern that we would take her. Two months later we get a call from Cory asking if we were still interested in having Fern? We said yes and then he told us the rest of the story; she had escaped again and was now in doggie jail (the pound), the fine for him was going to be a big one because she had no license, shots, prior arrest record and the hefty daily fee for her care/food in the pound. We went to the pound where he signed over her ownership to us and we were able to do a full adoption of a "surrendered" dog for $84. This fee covered a complete vet exam, all her shots, a spay operation and a one year license and 3 year rabies tag. We couldn't sign fast enough and do deal!

Nice! In the forth photo, except for the footprints, it looks like she is walking on water!
