Any Feedback on Affinity Photo
I stumbled across Affinity Photo while searching for photo editing tools. It looks like a nice package. Has anyone tried it and can share the pros and cons vs. Photoshop? (I'm currently using CS6.)
I've read that you still need a raw editor and cataloging tool with it. What have people used in conjunction with Affinity? I'm currently using LR6 - and thinking about going to Capture One. So my new toolset would be Capture One plus Affinity.
I do some commercial photography including headshots and products, so I'm trying to get the best color and sharpness.
Thanks for the help.
Appears to have just about all the editing tools you will ever need.
The Affinity Photo website clearly states that it does do RAW editing, and even shows a RAW editing example screen on the site. Perhaps your information source is outdated concerning what Affinity Photo can and cannot do; you may want to look into that.

I am an amateur, hobbyist photographer.
I bought Affinity awhile back but have just recently gotten serious about using it.
So far I like Affinity a lot. It seems to do everything I want it to do and more. I have no experience with Photoshop so I can't compare.
Affinity does have a Raw converter, they call it the "Develop Persona".
Affinity does not have a cataloguing capability. For that I use IMatch, a program I've had for a long time.
Good luck with your decision!
I've been using Affinity as my go-to post processor for nearly a year, and like it very much. Too, I was also more than happy with the price, and the fact that I wouldn't be squeezed month after month from those "other" apps. I'm also a contrarian!
Continue to use Bridge but have it invoke Affinity instead of PS
I've been using Affinity Photo (and Af Designer) for quite a while. I've permanently "ditched" the unaffordable Adobe Photoshop and am convinced that Affinity Photo is a stellar substitute. The learning curve, of course, is a bit steep, but there are marvelous tutorials and it is not difficult to master the basic tools. I'm currently playing with the Beta version of Affinity Publisher and believe it will outperform InDesign. I don't know how Serif can offer these great applications for a what's-to-loose? $49!
I'm so glad I've clicked on this thread, and thanks Dan for starting it. Over the Christmas vacation I plan to sit down an examine it more closely. I import RAW only, and find with each new thing I learn, I have much more to learn.
It's a keeper for us all.

I've used a variety of high-end graphic software in my business in my position of marketing and started using Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher and I found them to be excellent in all ways and the fact that you OWN them and not SUBSCRIBE to them is a huge plus. Affinity Photo is compatible with PhotoShop plugins which is an added plus if you already have them.
I shoot exclusively in RAW with Nikon and Fujifilm and Affinity Photo has no difficulty opening and editing them whatsoever. The "Price is Right" and I would not hesitate to buy it again.
It is now my favorite plug-in to develop RAW images. Lots of useful parameters and plenty of educational videos to guide the user.

I like it so well because there are over two hundred short videos on Affinity Photo. You get sample files to work on plus there is a workbook over 400 pages long that goes into detail on what to click, etc. The workbook is $35.00 USD and is well worth it.
I have dropped the Photoshop/Lightroom/Bridge CC . Affinity does all I will ever need.

Thanks everyone. I've just downloaded Capture One, ON1, and Affinity demos to review over the holiday break. I'll try and give an unbiased review when I'm done.

Do you know if it does the latest Raw CR3 files?
Been a very pleased Affinity user in snow country for some time.
It sounds great. But what happens to the 5000 to 10,000 images you already have in Lightroom?
I have over 10K images in LR. I'm still on LR6. And that's why I'm hesitant to move to a paid Adobe subscription. It's not the annual cost - it's the "how do I view my files if I decide not to renew my subscription" at some point in the future. ON1 says you can migrate LR files. Haven't tried it yet. I typically create a raw back-up file before I import back into LR anyway.
