A couple of weeks ago, I went outside as the sun was coming up over the mountain to find my windshield covered in an interesting pattern of frost and snow.

Wow...cool and beautiful shots and unique frosty pattern, cathyann! An excellent observation on a very goosebumpy morning.

Love them both, CathyAnn! But is that a crack in the windshield on the first one? 2nd one is my fav. Have you tried these in black and white?

That is a crack, Corolyn. Icy and snowy roads, after they've been plowed, are "sanded" with a fine gravel/sand mixture, at least that's what it looks like to me. The gravel is often thrown up from the rear tires of cars and trucks in front of you that fly into the windshield, especially when driving on the freeway. When looking closely, I can see that this windshield has many pits as well. I'm going to have to replace it.

Here's one of them in B&W. All I did to it is adjust the contrast a little, otherwise it was too dark overall.

Thank you for a great comment!

Thank you, Bob, for the comment. Fortunately for the windshield, it's going to be quite cold in Missoula until Spring. It already has a crack in it from gravel on the roads during periods of snow and ice, but probably will replace it then.
